Moving to a new city can be very exciting. Exploring new places, trying new restaurants, enjoying the different scenery, but it can also present some challenges, like where do I get my hair done? After moving to Boise I realized flying my stylist from out of state to Boise was not an option, nor me flying there just to get highlights and a cut, so I would have to find a new stylist on my own and pray it wasn’t a mistake. After happening upon Kiwi Blue and Stylist and Salon Owner, Danette Wingett I made an appointment. In one session she completely understood my hair and did an amazing job.
Kiwi Blue has 8 stylists all ranging in different hair services, but all offer the same comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and vibe in the salon. This episode takes a peek at the history behind the historic Edward’s Greenhouse located in Northwest Boise. A family-owned, geothermally heated paradise with some of the most incredible plants, flowers, and staff in all of The Treasure Valley. THE LOCALS love and recommend Edwards Greenhouse, so if you’re new to Boise and want to shop for your garden like the locals do you need to watch and see what you have been missing.
One of our favorite things about Boise, when we moved here, were the incredible yards and gardens as we drove around. Flowers that change and bloom on a weekly basis make spring and summer a very exciting time here. After buying our home we immediately started working on our own little paradise. All the locals we spoke to recommended Edward’s Greenhouse for the best flowers, plants and vegetables. Also, just an amazing place to spend the day and relax with a park-like setting, a garden gazebo, and picnic area and live music one evening a month. Such a gem and a must for any of those moving to the area or who have just recently arrived.

This was the first place we went to eat after moving to Boise. It was a cold February afternoon and our friends, who work in Downtown Boise insisted we visit Zee’s. Zee’s closes at 2 p.m., but he stayed open for us and we had the whole place to ourselves. We were in awe of the most incredible view from the Penthouse where Zee’s Café is located. Snow capped hills and Mountains, Downtown buzzing below and topped with the best paninni and local beer I had eaten in ages. Zee’s automatically became one of our favorites!

Moving to Boise from Paris (France, not Texas) one of the things we knew we would miss would be the food and wine. Thankfully, with so many up-and-coming trendy restaurants and this great wine shop we discovered in Downtown Boise, we have found we’re not as home sick as we had thought. We discovered City Center Wines and found the most incredible wine selection in Boise.
City Center Wine Shop is a family-owned wine shop. The owners, brother and sister changed careers and created the shop out of their love and passion for wine and to bring Boise unique, hard-to-find wines they may not be able to find elsewhere. With an amazing selection of Italian, Spanish, French, California, and even Idaho wines, the wine lover will not be disappointed when venturing into this cozy corner of downtown located at 574 W. Main St.
For us personally, we left with an amazing Bordeaux that we know we can’t find anywhere else in The Treasure Valley, not to mention a little more wine savvy after speaking with David, one of the owners about the history of some of the great wines in their store.
